On the main screen you will find three boxes:

KEY:
In this box simply choose the key that you are working with.
TONE:
In this box enter the number of the tone you are working with.
MELODY:
In this box enter the number of the melody note you are working with (This number should be in relationship to the TONE if you specified the tone. If you did not specify the tone, it should be in relationship to the KEY.

You must specify either the TONE or MELODY or both... depending on what effect you are trying to accomplish.

OPTION 1: If you have a piece of music that currently has a chord on a particular tone, and you would like to know what other chords are available for you to play on that tone.
Simply choose the KEY signature and the TONE, leave the MELODY blank. You will get a list off all the other chords on that TONE that you can use.
FOR EXAMPLE: If you are in the Key of Db and you are working with the (V) chord which would be an (Ab), we would give you all the other (Ab) chords that you could use. Enter Db as the KEY, and 5 as the tone, and melody blank.

OPTION 2: If you have a certain melody note that you are playing AND you MUST have a certain note in the BASS
Simply choose the KEY signature and TONE number, and the MELODY tone number.
You will get a list off all the other chords on that you can use that have that TONE in the BASS.
FOR EXAMPLE: If you are in the Key of Db and a Bb is in the melody AND you need to play some kind of (E) chord which is a (-III), we would give you all the (E) chords that you could use that have that (Bb) in the melody.

(This number should be in relationship to the TONE if you specified the tone. If you did not specify the tone, it should be in relationship to the KEY)

So in the example above, if you want an (E) chord (the TONE would be -III , E is the -III in the key of Db) and the melody note would be bV (Bb is the bV of E). Add we would give you all the (E) chords that have the Bb in the melody that you can play.

Enter Db as the KEY and -3 as the TONE and b5 as the MELODY

OPTION 3: (Advanced) If you have a certain melody note that you are playing and you want to know what chords you can play for that melody note.

Simply choose the KEY signature and the MELODY, leave the TONE blank. You will get a list off all the other chords on that you can use for that melody note.
FOR EXAMPLE: If you are in the Key of Db and a Bb is in the melody which is the (VI), we would give you all the other chords that you could use. Enter Db as the KEY and 6 as the MELODY and leave TONE blank
